FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are a revolutionary technique that is designed to add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes. They are single synthetic strands of eyelashes applied ONE by ONE directly to each of your individual eyelashes using a medical grade adhesive. They are nearly weightless, feel and look completely natural, and are available in many different sizes to allow for personal customization.

Eyelash extensions are not just for people with short lashes. They are a great enhancement for people with long eyelashes also. It reduces time spent applying makeup, as eyelash curlers and mascara are no longer needed. You literally wake up every morning with beautiful-glamorous lashes!

What is the application process like?
It is a meticulous process that requires skill, patience and concentration.  You will be lying down with your eyes closed for the entire procedure. Most clients enjoy a nap or listen to their own music during the application process.

How long do eyelash extensions last?
Eyelash extensions will last indefinitely with routine touch ups every 2-3 weeks. The adhesive is designed to last until ones lashes naturally fall out but it is specific to each individual. Factors such as your eyelash characteristics, eyelash growth cycle and general care will affect how long your extensions last. To ensure your lash extensions stay secure and beautiful please follow the aftercare instructions.

What is the eyelash grow cycle?
A normal eyelash typically sheds every 60-90 days and is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. On average, you lose between 1-4 natural eyelashes per day. Each eyelash is on its own phase of the growth cycle. Some are just growing in while others are ready to shed. Touch-ups should be scheduled accordingly.

What happens if a lash loosens or becomes dislodged?
Do not pull on your lashes or try to remove them on your own. Please make an appointment with your lash specialist to have it removed or replaced to avoid damage to your natural lashes.

Will eyelash extensions harm my natural eyelashes?
Eyelash extensions will not harm your natural eyelashes. The lash extensions are virtually weightless and are applied one by one with a medical grade adhesive. This adhesive has flexing ability that allows everything to move as ones natural eyelash. Damage can only be done when applied improperly by an untrained and inexperienced individual or if one was to remove the eyelash extensions at home. Please follow the aftercare instructions to ensure your lashes are cared for properly.

Can I get eyelash extensions if I have an eye condition?
We suggest that you reschedule to get eyelash extensions if you have pink eye, sty, itchiness, redness, swelling or a rash in or around your eyes. We also recommend clients who have a cold or are going through seasonal allergies to wait until symptoms no longer exist before scheduling your appointment.

Can I wear mascara with my eyelash extensions?
One of the benefits of eyelash extensions is that your eyelashes will look so long, beautiful, and dark that you won’t need to use mascara anymore! Refer to the aftercare instructions if you decide to wear mascara.

What is the maintenance?
Eyelash extensions are not for everyone as they are a "maintenance" beauty treatment similar to nail extensions. When your natural lashes fall out due to the growth cycle, you will need touch-ups as the new lashes grow in. At first you may need a touch-up every 2 weeks. As you become accustomed to the lash extensions and with a little practice maintaining them, the time between touch-ups can be extended to 3 weeks. This will keep your eyelashes looking full and natural, indefinitely!

When should I consider a trial set?
If you have a big event to attend or are a bride to be we suggest you come in for a trial set at least 3 weeks before. This will give us time to observe for any type of allergic reaction that may develop. Even with the safest and highest quality products in the industry, some people still may have a reaction. This is rare and the majority of people have no problem, but this should be informed to all clients.

What if I don't want Eyelash Extensions anymore?

Make an appointment with your lash specialist to have them removed. Eyelash Extensios can be painlessly removed with a special adhesive debonder. Urban lash does not recommend removing the Eyelash Extensions at home.
